Express Scripts Canada is hiring a full-time Staff Pharmacist in Mississauga, Ontario. This on-site pharmacy operations role focuses on dispensing and compounding medications, verifying prescriptions, supporting patient safety and maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy and regulatory compliance.
The successful candidate will review prescriptions, provide patient counseling, oversee pharmacy technicians and help resolve medication, prescription and claims-related issues. The role also includes mentoring other pharmacy team members and supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
About This Staff Pharmacist Role
Staff Pharmacists at Express Scripts Canada are responsible for ensuring prescriptions are prepared, verified and dispensed safely in accordance with professional standards, corporate policies and applicable federal and provincial regulations.
The position requires strong clinical judgment together with operational accuracy. Pharmacists may interpret prescriptions, verify controlled substances, review information entered into the Kroll pharmacy system and provide guidance to technicians and other members of the pharmacy team.

The role combines prescription verification, patient support, pharmacy operations and team oversight. The successful candidate will help maintain safe, accurate and efficient medication dispensing processes.
Prescription Verification
Review prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness and completeness before dispensing and ensure medications are correctly selected, prepared and labeled.
Patient Counseling
Provide counseling on new and existing therapies, answer clinical questions and support patients in using medications safely and effectively.
Pharmacy Technician Oversight
Provide guidance, supervision and quality assurance support to pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy support employees.
Claims & Billing Accuracy
Ensure prescriptions and pharmacy services are adjudicated and billed correctly according to payer, provider, client and plan requirements.
Issue Resolution
Investigate prescription, medication and claims-related issues and collaborate with patients, prescribers, providers and internal teams to resolve them.
Training & Mentoring
Coach and support pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and new team members through knowledge sharing, operational guidance and ongoing development.
Pharmacy Operations and Quality Standards
The Staff Pharmacist will maintain accurate documentation and ensure pharmacy activities meet professional, accreditation and regulatory requirements. Strong attention to detail is important because the role involves controlled substances, prescription verification and high-volume medication processing.

Qualifications, Compensation and Work Requirements
Candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree and maintain current Part A registration and pharmacist licensure in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Experience in retail, specialty, mail-order, home delivery, long-term care or pharmacy benefits management environments is preferred.
Express Scripts Canada lists an hourly pay range of $48.00 to $51.00 CAD. The position is full time and on-site in Mississauga. Employment is conditional on successful reference checks, background verification and obtaining an Enhanced Reliability Clearance from the Federal Government.
