Lot Associate Full-Time – The Home Depot, Thunder Bay, ON

About the Role

As a Lot Associate at The Home Depot Canada, the successful candidate will help create a positive customer experience from arrival through departure. A primary responsibility of the role is assisting customers with loading orders into their vehicles while keeping the parking lot and loading areas safe and organized.

The position also involves maintaining shopping cart availability near the store entrance, assisting customers when needed and following The Home Depot’s customer service, safety and loss prevention procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide customer service by greeting, engaging with and thanking customers.
• Maintain a sufficient supply of shopping carts near the store entrance.
• Approach customers and offer assistance with loading merchandise into vehicles or shopping carts.
• Ask questions when appropriate to better understand customer projects and needs.
• Determine safe and effective methods for loading and securing merchandise in customer vehicles.
• Keep store exits, loading areas and surrounding spaces clear of obstructions and clutter.
• Sweep and remove debris from the front apron and lumber loading areas.
• Follow established safety and loss prevention policies and procedures.
• Use appropriate safety procedures when working with equipment.

Qualifications and Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Approximately 1 to 2 years of retail experience.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Good organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings and weekends.

Physical and Work Requirements

This is an active retail position that may involve bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving merchandise. Associates may work in a warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy.

The position also requires working outdoors in changing weather conditions while loading and unloading merchandise. Open store doors and loading areas may result in exposure to drafts and changing indoor temperatures.

Pay

The advertised pay range for this position is $18.60 to $19.60 per hour.

Work Location

This is an onsite, full-time position at The Home Depot’s Thunder Bay Store, located at 359 Main Street, Thunder Bay, Ontario P7B 5L6. The position reports to the Front End Supervisor and does not require travel.
