Lead Full Stack Developer – RBC, Toronto, ON
Location: Toronto, ON | Company: RBC
RBC is hiring a Lead Full Stack Developer for a full-time technology position in Toronto, Ontario. This senior engineering opportunity supports the Residential Lending technology team and focuses on stabilizing development environments, improving cloud infrastructure and helping mortgage application teams deliver software safely and efficiently.
The successful candidate will combine full-stack development experience with hands-on DevOps and engineering support capabilities. The role involves managing lower environments, troubleshooting application and integration issues, improving CI/CD pipelines and designing APIs and event-driven services within RBC’s Azure technology ecosystem.
About This Full Stack and DevOps Position
The Lead Full Stack Developer will work closely with application developers, architects, product teams and business partners supporting residential lending systems. A major part of the role is maintaining the reliability of development, testing and user-acceptance environments so teams can build, validate and release changes with fewer interruptions.
This position goes beyond traditional application coding. The developer will also investigate deployment failures, performance issues, integration problems and environment configuration concerns. Strong knowledge of cloud services, automation, monitoring and software delivery practices will therefore be essential.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The role combines software engineering, cloud operations and developer support. The successful candidate will help maintain reliable environments while contributing to APIs, integrations, automation and technical improvements across RBC’s mortgage technology platform.
Environment Management
Own the health of development, testing and user-acceptance environments by supporting provisioning, configuration, deployments, monitoring and incident response.
Application Troubleshooting
Work with development teams to reproduce, diagnose and resolve technical issues involving applications, integrations, databases and environment dependencies.
CI/CD Pipeline Development
Build, maintain and improve Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions pipelines that support consistent, secure and repeatable deployments to cloud environments.
API and Integration Engineering
Design and support REST APIs, Kafka integrations and event-driven services that connect applications and data across RBC technology environments.
Cloud Platform Support
Support Azure services such as Functions, Logic Apps, Event Hubs, Redis, Cosmos DB, Blob Storage and Key Vault as part of enterprise application delivery.
Automation and GenAI
Use tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude to assist with coding, test data, automated testing and the reduction of repetitive support or deployment work.
Technology Stack and Architecture
Candidates should have extensive experience with C#, .NET Core, Visual Studio, web services, XML and RESTful APIs. Knowledge of Kafka or another event-driven integration platform is also required, together with a strong understanding of system design, data mapping and application integration.
The role also requires significant Azure experience, including the design and operation of cloud solutions. Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, design patterns such as MVC or MVVM, service-oriented architecture and both SQL and NoSQL databases will help the developer support applications across the full technology stack.
Skills That May Help Candidates Succeed
This position is suited to a senior developer who enjoys solving complex technical problems and supporting other engineers. Candidates should be able to move between application code, cloud services, deployment pipelines and business discussions while maintaining a strong security and reliability mindset.
Advanced experience designing, developing and supporting enterprise applications using C#, .NET Core, Visual Studio and modern web-service technologies.
Strong knowledge of Azure services, cloud architecture, secure configuration and the operation of distributed applications in enterprise environments.
Hands-on experience managing environments, automating deployments, troubleshooting releases and supporting developers through modern delivery pipelines.
The ability to design REST APIs, Kafka or event-driven services and reliable data flows between source and target systems.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills for explaining technical issues to non-technical partners and coordinating work across engineering and business teams.
Experience, Workplace and Career Development
RBC requires more than ten years of experience with C#, .NET Core, web services and RESTful APIs, together with more than ten years designing and operating Azure cloud solutions. Candidates should also demonstrate substantial DevOps experience involving environment management, deployments, CI/CD pipelines and developer support.
Experience with OpenShift, AWS, prototyping tools or support and site-reliability work in a regulated banking environment is considered beneficial. Knowledge of mortgage or lending business models is also preferred. The position is based at 180 Wellington Street West in Toronto and follows a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. RBC highlights bonuses, flexible benefits, professional development and access to financial services training.

The official application deadline is August 24, 2026, with applications accepted until 11:59 p.m. on the preceding day. RBC may contact qualified applicants to discuss their experience in greater detail. Joblyz does not receive applications or participate in hiring decisions.
