This senior Capital Markets leadership role focuses on developing trusted, governed and AI-ready securities data products that support business, risk, operations and technology teams.
The successful candidate will define data product strategy, lead enterprise transformation initiatives and work with stakeholders across the front office, operations, technology, finance, compliance and data governance. About This Capital Markets Data Leadership Role
The Director will work within RBC Capital Markets Data Strategy and Execution and take ownership of securities-related data products. The role also supports RBC’s broader transformation toward cloud-based, automated and AI-enabled data management. The successful candidate will define the target state, establish a practical roadmap and ensure that investments deliver measurable business value rather than focusing only on technical implementation.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The position combines product strategy, technical direction and cross-functional leadership. The Director will work across several global teams to deliver governed data capabilities while maintaining regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
Data Product Strategy
Develop a securities data strategy aligned with RBC Capital Markets priorities and define the products, services and capabilities required to support business objectives.

Executive Stakeholder Management
Communicate strategy, progress, risks and investment requirements to senior leaders while building alignment across complex organizational structures.
Data Platforms, AI and Product Development
The Director will champion the use of cloud platforms, automation and artificial intelligence across RBC’s Capital Markets data environment. This includes identifying where modern data technology can reduce manual processes, strengthen controls and improve access to reliable information.
The role will also support the development of reusable data products and APIs that can serve multiple teams rather than duplicating data solutions across individual business units. Experience with platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake and Collibra is preferred, together with knowledge of metadata, lineage and enterprise data modelling.
Skills That May Help Candidates Succeed
This position requires deep Capital Markets knowledge combined with strong data, product and organizational leadership. Candidates should be able to understand technical detail while communicating priorities and business value clearly to senior stakeholders.
A strong understanding of securities, market data, risk information and the operational processes used across Capital Markets businesses.
Experience defining data architecture, governance, engineering or product strategies within a large and highly regulated organization.
The ability to present complex data, technology and transformation topics clearly to executive leaders and decision-making committees.
Strong relationship-management skills for aligning front-office, operations, risk, finance, compliance, architecture and technology stakeholders.
Knowledge of SQL, Python, cloud data platforms, data modelling, metadata, lineage and API integration within enterprise environments.
Qualifications and Leadership Expectations
RBC requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance or a related field and at least ten years of relevant Capital Markets experience. Candidates should demonstrate previous responsibility for enterprise-scale transformation, data strategy, governance or engineering initiatives.
A graduate degree is preferred, along with experience using modern cloud and data-governance platforms. The role also requires strategic thinking, talent development, influencing without authority and the ability to lead global cross-functional teams toward measurable outcomes.
