About the Project Engineer Position
The Project Engineer is responsible for guiding assigned projects through multiple stages, beginning with the selected project concept and continuing through detailed planning, procurement, construction, turnover, and final closeout. The role requires a broad understanding of project delivery and the ability to bring together expertise from engineering, cost control, scheduling, safety, procurement, and operations.
Successful candidates will be expected to identify issues early, evaluate possible solutions, and coordinate the actions required to keep projects aligned with Imperial’s internal standards. Key Areas of Responsibility

Project Execution Planning
Help develop practical execution plans that define how engineering, procurement, contracting, construction, and project controls activities will be coordinated throughout the project lifecycle.
Issue and Change Management
Identify technical, commercial, scheduling, or construction concerns and coordinate appropriate actions, including the use of formal change-management processes when project scope or conditions change.
Procurement Support
Support purchasing and materials activities, which may include requisitioning equipment, following up on delivery progress, coordinating logistics, and ensuring required items are available for project execution.
Contractor Administration
Coordinate contractor-related activities, monitor alignment with project requirements, and help maintain clear communication between external service providers and Imperial’s internal project stakeholders.
Construction Coordination
Participate in field reviews, constructability discussions, brownfield verification, site issue resolution, progress assessments, procurement support, and pre-startup safety review activities when projects enter construction.
Turnover and Closeout
Coordinate project completion, documentation, final turnover to the operating site, and closeout activities while confirming that the completed work meets applicable quality and organizational requirements.
Education and Professional Experience
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering and demonstrate technical capability, leadership potential, or a combination of both. Imperial is seeking someone who can understand complex engineering and project concepts, discuss them clearly with different audiences, and contribute effectively without requiring constant supervision.
Imperial lists five to fifteen years of professional experience as preferred. Previous oil and gas experience, leadership responsibilities, construction exposure, project engineering, and project management experience may strengthen an application.
