About This Principal Product Manager Role

Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team develops products including Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid and Power BI.

As part of the Data Integration team, the Principal Product Manager will help shape how customers manage data across their entire data estate. The position combines product strategy, customer research, market analysis and cross-functional execution to create data integration capabilities designed for the age of AI.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The Principal Product Manager will own important aspects of product strategy and execution while collaborating across Microsoft’s engineering and business organizations.

Product Vision & Strategy

Define the product vision, strategy and roadmap for data integration capabilities and experiences across Microsoft Fabric and Azure Data services.

Customer & Market Analysis

Analyze customer feedback, competitive insights, market trends and business opportunities to identify investments that create customer and business value.

AI-First Innovation

Partner with engineering, design, research and business stakeholders to develop secure, accessible and customer-focused AI-first product innovations.

Product Execution

Drive feature prioritization and product development while balancing customer requirements, technical considerations and broader business objectives.

Qualifications, Work Model and Compensation

Microsoft requires a bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of experience in product, service or program management or software development, or equivalent professional experience. Preferred qualifications include at least 12 years of relevant experience and substantial experience launching products, improving product metrics and competing in established markets.

The position is full time and follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the office. Travel is expected to be less than 25%.

Microsoft lists a typical Canadian base salary range of $142,400 to $257,500 CAD per year for this Product Management IC5 position.

Security Requirements

This position requires candidates to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements. The successful candidate must pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
