RBC is hiring a full-time Senior Platform Engineer in Toronto, Ontario, to support Wealth Management data platforms within its Technology & Operations organization. The role focuses on infrastructure reliability, operating systems, cloud environments, security compliance and technical support across critical data applications.
Based at RBC Centre at 155 Wellington Street West in Toronto, this position works across Linux, Windows, OpenShift and public and private cloud environments. The engineer will collaborate with development, operations, quality assurance, service providers and vendor partners while leading platform initiatives and resolving complex technical issues.
About the Senior Platform Engineer Role
The Senior Platform Engineer supports RBC’s Wealth Management Data Platform Infrastructure Team, which provides technical, operational and system support for data applications and related infrastructure. The position requires a broad understanding of enterprise platforms and the ability to maintain stable environments while supporting upgrades, integrations and ongoing production operations.
A major part of the role involves identifying technical issues, maintaining platform resilience and ensuring systems remain aligned with RBC security and compliance standards. The engineer will also contribute to automation and documentation initiatives designed to make support processes more efficient and repeatable.
Key Areas of Responsibility
This position combines day-to-day platform support with infrastructure improvements, security maintenance, monitoring and end-to-end ownership of technology initiatives.
Platform Support
Provide technical support for Wealth Management data platforms operating across Linux, Windows and public or private cloud environments.
Security and Patching
Manage operating system and application patches to help supported platforms remain aligned with RBC security and compliance requirements.
System Upgrades
Perform operating system and middle-tier application upgrades designed to reduce technical risk and maintain regulatory compliance.
Monitoring and Resilience
Configure monitoring and alerting capabilities that help identify platform issues and support the stability and resiliency of data environments.
Technical Troubleshooting
Investigate and resolve errors reported by users or connected systems while coordinating with technical teams and service providers.
Platform Initiatives
Lead assigned infrastructure initiatives from planning through completion and contribute to upgrades, integrations and process improvements.
Technical Experience and Requirements
RBC requires advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with OpenShift, Linux or Windows environments. Candidates should also have practical knowledge of public and private cloud technologies, including Azure, AWS and Amazon S3.
The position requires strong troubleshooting ability and experience managing multiple technical priorities in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of scripting and programming technologies such as PowerShell, shell scripting and JavaScript is also required, while database knowledge is considered an asset.
