RBC is hiring a Senior Network and Security Analyst in Toronto, Ontario, for a full-time position supporting critical network and security infrastructure across the bank’s global technology environment.
This role is part of RBC Technology and Operations and focuses on advanced troubleshooting, infrastructure changes, incident response, root-cause analysis, and technical support across intranet, internet, and extranet environments. The successful candidate will work with internal teams, business partners, vendors, and engineering groups supporting services across multiple global regions.
About the Network and Security Analyst Role
The Senior Network and Security Analyst will help maintain the availability, performance, and security of RBC’s global network infrastructure. The position involves supporting core networks, local and wide area networks, server farms, internet services, e-commerce platforms, and external connectivity environments.
The role requires advanced technical knowledge across networking and security technologies, along with the ability to diagnose complex problems, implement configuration changes, and coordinate incident resolution. Candidates should be comfortable working in a large enterprise environment where service reliability, documentation, operational discipline, and fast escalation are essential.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The position combines incident management, infrastructure support, network troubleshooting, security operations, and change execution.
Incident Response
Respond to escalated network and security incidents from service desks, business teams, clients, and technical partners across RBC’s global environment.
Root-Cause Analysis
Work with engineering teams and vendors to identify the source of recurring problems and implement stable, long-term technical solutions.
Infrastructure Changes
Execute approved network and security configuration changes across routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and other enterprise platforms.
Service Management
Manage incident, problem, and change tickets in ServiceNow while meeting established service-level agreements and operational standards.
Network Auditing
Review network management systems, configuration records, and technical documentation to identify inconsistencies and improve operational accuracy.
Operational Documentation
Create and update support procedures, outage reports, shift records, and technical documentation for major incidents and service changes.
Technical Knowledge and Experience
Applicants should have a strong understanding of TCP/IP, packet inspection, protocol analysis, and the OSI model. The role also requires practical troubleshooting knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols such as ARP, HSRP, VRRP, STP, BGP, VRF, OSPF, and vPC within Cisco environments.
Candidates should also understand application and security protocols including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, TLS, NAT, PAT, IPsec, SSL, distributed denial-of-service protection, and IP spoofing. Experience working with enterprise firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches, and network security appliances is important.

Work Schedule and Preferred Qualifications
This full-time salaried position is based at RBC Centre, 155 Wellington Street West in Toronto, with a standard work schedule of 37.5 hours per week. The role includes participation in a 24-hour, seven-day on-call rotation that may involve evening and overnight shifts.
A college diploma or university degree in information technology, telecommunications, or a related field may be beneficial. RBC also lists CCNP Routing and Switching, Data Centre certification, or an equivalent level of technical knowledge as preferred. Experience with Cisco UCS, VMware, VXLAN, ACI, FCoE, VSAN, VDC, and related infrastructure may also strengthen an application.
