Lumber Sales Associate Full-Time – The Home Depot, Parry Sound, ON

About the Role

As a Lumber Sales Associate at The Home Depot Canada, the successful candidate will provide fast and friendly customer service by identifying customer needs, recommending appropriate products and helping shoppers understand the materials and steps required to complete their projects.

The role is based at the Parry Sound store at 100 Bowes Street and requires someone comfortable working in a busy retail environment while supporting customers, maintaining merchandise availability and keeping assigned areas clean and safe.

Key Responsibilities

• Approach customers and ask open-ended questions to understand their projects, needs and level of experience.
• Recommend appropriate lumber, building materials and related merchandise based on customer requirements.
• Explain product features and benefits clearly to help customers make informed purchasing decisions.
• Help customers understand the steps and products required to complete their projects.
• Handle multiple customer and departmental priorities in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Maintain product availability and help keep assigned areas properly stocked.
• Keep the department clean, organized and safe for customers and associates.
• Work collaboratively with supervisors and other sales associates throughout the store.

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
• Experience working in a sales-driven environment is considered an asset.
• Strong communication and reading skills.
• Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
• Trade-related experience is considered an asset.
• Comfort using computers and retail technology.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.

Pay and Benefits

The advertised base pay range for this position is $18.50 to $19.50 per hour. The Home Depot Canada also states that eligible total rewards may include semi-annual bonuses tied to business performance, a Deferred Profit-Sharing Program, comprehensive paid benefits, a 15% discount on Home Depot stock purchases and merit-based salary increases.
