Building Data Infrastructure for Alexa Audio
The Alexa Audio Data and Insights team develops the data foundations used to understand customer experiences and support new audio capabilities. Data Engineers help ensure that information from multiple sources can be processed reliably, transformed efficiently and made accessible to teams working on products and advanced AI initiatives.
This Vancouver-based role involves developing automated and fault-tolerant solutions using technologies such as Spark, EMR, Python, Amazon Redshift, AWS Glue and Amazon S3. The work supports both technical development and business analysis across a broad range of Alexa Audio services.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Daily responsibilities focus on creating dependable data pipelines, improving data quality and helping technical and business teams work effectively with large and complex datasets.
Data Pipeline Development
Design and manage scalable pipelines that extract, transform and load information from multiple data sources for analytics and product development.
Data Architecture
Collaborate with data scientists, Business Intelligence engineers and software engineers to create reliable architectures for large-scale data processing.
Workflow Automation
Automate data processing and reporting activities to improve operational efficiency, consistency and the integrity of analytical datasets.
Data Quality
Implement validation checks and monitoring processes designed to identify issues and maintain accurate information throughout data workflows.
Data Accessibility
Develop data cubes and sharing solutions that make large datasets easier for technical and business teams to understand and use.
AWS Data Solutions

Data Engineering Experience
Candidates need at least three years of professional data engineering experience and three years of SQL experience. Amazon also requires experience with data modelling, data warehousing and the development of ETL pipelines.
Preferred candidates may have experience with AWS technologies such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, Firehose, Lambda and IAM roles and permissions. Familiarity with non-relational data stores, including object storage, document databases, key-value stores, graph databases or column-family databases, may also be useful.

Compensation and Employment Information
Amazon has published an annual base salary range of CAD $103,300 to CAD $172,600 for this Vancouver-based position. Final compensation will depend on factors including professional experience, qualifications and location.
