Client Advisor – RBC, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, NL
Location: Toronto, ON | Company: RBC
RBC is hiring a Client Advisor for a full-time branch banking position in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador. This customer-focused opportunity involves completing everyday transactions, identifying financial needs and helping clients use RBC’s advice, digital tools and broader banking services.
The successful candidate will serve as an RBC representative inside the branch and help strengthen both new and existing client relationships. The role may suit a motivated service professional who communicates clearly, enjoys learning financial concepts and is interested in developing toward future positions such as Account Manager or Banking Advisor.
About This Client Advisor Position
The Client Advisor will support customers during routine branch visits while looking beyond the immediate transaction to understand their broader needs. This may involve providing basic information, demonstrating digital banking capabilities or introducing the client to another RBC specialist who can offer more detailed advice.
The position combines service, relationship development and operational responsibility. Advisors are expected to create a welcoming branch experience while completing transactions accurately and following the compliance processes and controls designed to protect both clients and RBC.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The role focuses on direct client support, financial education and responsible business development. The Client Advisor will work with branch colleagues and RBC partners to help customers access appropriate solutions through the most suitable channel.
Branch Client Service
Welcome clients, complete routine banking transactions and provide a professional service experience during each branch interaction.
Client Needs Discovery
Listen carefully, ask relevant questions and identify opportunities to provide advice, explain solutions or connect clients with another RBC specialist.
Digital Banking Education
Demonstrate online, mobile and other digital banking tools so clients can complete suitable activities conveniently and confidently.
Problem Resolution
Take ownership of routine client concerns and work to resolve or prevent banking problems at the first point of contact whenever possible.
Partner Referrals
Maintain relationships with RBC partners and introduce clients when their needs require additional financial advice, products or specialized support.
Risk and Compliance
Follow branch procedures, operational controls and compliance routines while handling transactions and confidential client information.
Client Relationships and Digital Support
A central part of this role is helping clients feel comfortable with the different ways they can access RBC services. The Client Advisor may demonstrate features on smartphones, tablets or computers and explain how digital banking can support common financial activities.
The advisor will also contribute to branch results by recognizing when a conversation reveals an additional need. This requires a client-first approach: recommendations and referrals should be based on what may genuinely help the individual rather than simply completing a sales activity.
Skills That May Help Candidates Succeed
This opportunity may suit someone with strong service instincts, personal initiative and an interest in building a financial services career. Candidates should be comfortable learning new concepts and adapting their communication style to different clients.
The ability to listen carefully, explain information clearly and build rapport with clients from a range of backgrounds and financial situations.
Confidence using smartphones, tablets, laptops and digital applications and the ability to demonstrate those tools to other people.
The ability to recognize client needs, provide relevant information and make appropriate introductions to qualified RBC partners.
Personal flexibility to work changing hours, manage different client requests and continue learning in a busy branch environment.
A goal-oriented approach, strong follow-through and a genuine determination to improve client experiences and achieve team objectives.
Qualifications, Schedule and Career Development
RBC is seeking candidates who demonstrate a strong commitment to client service, excellent communication, emotional intelligence and a willingness to learn financial concepts. Applicants must also be prepared to obtain the Investment Funds in Canada credential or complete the Canadian Securities Course if required.
Previous experience building relationships in banking, retail or another service industry is considered beneficial, while existing mutual funds accreditation is an asset. The position is based at 36 Grenfell Street in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and follows a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. RBC also highlights training, career development, coaching, bonuses, flexible benefits, commissions and stock where applicable.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should apply through RBC’s official careers website. Application materials should highlight customer service experience, relationship-building skills, digital confidence and any exposure to banking, financial products, retail sales or mutual funds.
The official application deadline is September 1, 2026, with applications accepted until 11:59 p.m. on the preceding day. RBC may contact qualified applicants to discuss their experience in greater detail. Joblyz does not receive applications or participate in hiring decisions.
