Associate Portfolio Manager – RBC, Québec, QC
Location: Quebec City, QC | Company: RBC
RBC is hiring an Associate Portfolio Manager for a full-time position in Québec, Quebec. This Wealth Management opportunity supports RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel and focuses on building, implementing and monitoring customized investment strategies for high-net-worth individuals, trusts and charitable foundations.
The successful candidate will work closely with experienced investment counsellors to manage client portfolios, prepare investment proposals and ensure that each account remains aligned with its investment policy statement. The role requires a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, bilingual English and French proficiency and strong knowledge of portfolio analysis and risk management.
About This Portfolio Management Position
The Associate Portfolio Manager will provide long-term support to investment counsellors responsible for private client relationships. The position involves translating each client’s objectives, time horizon, liquidity needs and risk profile into an investment strategy that can be implemented and monitored over time.
The role combines technical portfolio management with client relationship support. Although investment counsellors remain responsible for the overall client relationship, the Associate Portfolio Manager will contribute analysis, prepare recommendations and help ensure that agreed portfolio actions are completed accurately and on schedule.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The position covers portfolio construction, implementation, monitoring and meeting preparation. The successful candidate will also identify investment or risk issues and provide practical recommendations to the investment counsellors supporting each client.
Portfolio Construction
Assist investment counsellors in developing customized investment strategies, portfolio models, proposals and action plans for existing and prospective clients.
Strategy Implementation
Carry out approved portfolio action plans and help ensure that investment decisions are implemented in accordance with each client’s objectives and account requirements.
Portfolio Monitoring
Review portfolio performance, asset allocation and risk exposure and recommend rebalancing when accounts move away from their established investment policy.
Client Profile Management
Develop and maintain detailed client profiles, document next steps and support activities intended to deepen and strengthen long-term client relationships.
Meeting Preparation
Prepare materials for annual portfolio reviews, prospective client discussions and other meetings involving investment strategy, performance or account planning.
Risk Review
Review risk-management reports, identify portfolio concerns and recommend potential solutions to investment counsellors before issues become more significant.
High-Net-Worth Portfolio Support
The Associate Portfolio Manager will support portfolios belonging to high-net-worth individuals, trusts and charitable foundations. These clients may have complex investment objectives, tax considerations, spending requirements and governance expectations that require a customized approach rather than a standardized portfolio model.
The role also involves participating in analyst presentations covering investment strategy and market analysis. This helps the Associate Portfolio Manager remain informed about portfolio positioning and communicate relevant investment considerations when preparing recommendations or supporting client discussions.
Skills That May Help Candidates Succeed
This position is suited to an investment professional who can combine technical portfolio knowledge with careful organization, sound judgement and professional client communication in both English and French.
The ability to evaluate asset allocation, performance, risk and investment-policy requirements and translate findings into suitable portfolio recommendations.
Knowledge of portfolio construction, diversification and risk management when designing strategies for individuals, trusts and charitable organizations.
Professional English and French proficiency for serving clients and collaborating with RBC partners and employees across Canada.
The ability to document client needs, prepare clear meeting materials and support investment counsellors in maintaining trusted long-term relationships.
Strong attention to detail and working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel, for portfolio analysis and client documentation.
Qualifications, Workplace and Career Development
RBC requires candidates to hold the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and an undergraduate degree, preferably in business, finance or economics. A graduate degree in business or finance and a financial planner diploma from the Institute of Financial Planning are considered additional assets.
The position is based at 2828 Boulevard Laurier in Québec and follows a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week. RBC highlights a Total Rewards program that may include bonuses, flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions and stock where applicable, together with coaching, professional development and opportunities to work within a collaborative Wealth Management team.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should apply through RBC’s official careers website. Application materials should highlight the CFA designation, bilingual English and French proficiency, portfolio analysis experience and any previous responsibility for high-net-worth, trust or institutional investment accounts.
The official application deadline is August 19, 2026, with applications accepted until 11:59 p.m. on the preceding day. RBC may contact qualified applicants to discuss their experience in greater detail. Joblyz does not receive applications or participate in hiring decisions.
