Air Canada is hiring a Director, Line Maintenance – West for a senior aviation maintenance leadership position based in Calgary, Alberta. This role is responsible for directing and managing Western Line Maintenance operations across multiple stations while ensuring safe, serviceable aircraft, strong operational performance and compliance with Transport Canada and Air Canada airworthiness standards.
The successful candidate will oversee maintenance activity, financial performance, productivity, staffing, training and continuous improvement across Western Canada. The position also leads operational leadership teams and works closely with Maintenance Operations Control, Fleet Management, Quality Assurance, airports, suppliers and third-party maintenance providers.
About This Western Line Maintenance Leadership Role
The Director will oversee Air Canada Line Maintenance operations across key Western stations, including Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg and Edmonton. Responsibilities cover planned and unscheduled maintenance, aircraft-on-ground support, station capability, contractor performance and the resources required to complete work safely and on schedule.
The role also carries significant financial and organizational responsibility. The Director will manage budgets and revenues, identify opportunities to improve regional performance and develop leadership capability across the Western Operational Leadership team.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The position combines regional maintenance oversight, financial management, people leadership and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be accountable for both operational outcomes and the long-term capability of Western Line Maintenance.
Regional Maintenance Oversight
Direct maintenance activity across Western stations and ensure planned, unscheduled, third-party and AOG work is completed safely and efficiently.
Operational Performance
Improve station productivity, aircraft availability and on-time performance while reducing out-of-service time across the Western region.
Budget and Financial Control
Manage Line Maintenance budgets, revenues, costs and financial performance for Western stations and identify opportunities to improve results.
Workforce Capability
Ensure stations have the required manhours, skills, tooling, qualifications and training to complete assigned maintenance workloads.
Leadership Development
Lead the Western Operational Leadership team and strengthen leadership capability, accountability and succession across the region.
Continuous Improvement
Develop meaningful performance measures and improve maintenance processes, business practices and cross-functional productivity.
Western Station and Fleet Oversight
The Director will oversee Vancouver as a large A station with capabilities that include A checks, engine changes and routine maintenance. Calgary supports a broad mix of narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, while Winnipeg includes hangar maintenance capability up to A checks and engine changes. Edmonton operates as a B station.
The role requires close coordination with station leaders to ensure maintenance visits, timelines and workload priorities are managed effectively. The Director must also work with Maintenance Operations Control, Fleet Management, Airports, Quality Assurance, Stores, Tooling and Corporate Real Estate to resolve constraints and support regional maintenance capacity.

Qualifications and Employment Requirements
Air Canada requires a university degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should have at least ten years of experience in a global airline environment and demonstrate success across maintenance operations, leadership, planning and performance management.
