RBC is hiring a Senior Quality Engineer in Toronto, Ontario. This full-time technology position supports Personal Banking and Credit Technology by leading quality engineering initiatives, test automation strategies and the adoption of AI across software development and testing processes.
The role is designed for an experienced quality engineering professional with a strong background in automated testing, Agile delivery and DevOps practices. The successful candidate will help build and maintain test frameworks, improve software quality and support continuous integration and deployment across RBC’s technology environment.
Driving Quality Engineering Excellence
As part of RBC’s Personal Banking and Credit Technology organization, the Senior Quality Engineer will contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle. Responsibilities extend beyond testing and include requirements analysis, planning, estimation, resource coordination and the implementation of test automation strategies.
The position also places significant emphasis on innovation. The successful candidate will help identify and implement high-value AI use cases within the quality engineering process while ensuring that automation capabilities are integrated into DevOps pipelines to support continuous integration and low-touch production deployments.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The role combines technical leadership, quality assurance, automation strategy and collaboration across Agile delivery teams.
QE Planning and Delivery
Lead the planning and execution of quality engineering activities across assigned projects and coordinate deliverables within Agile environments.
Test Automation
Design, implement and maintain automated test coverage to support software quality across multiple testing levels and environments.
Framework Development
Build and enhance test automation frameworks that support scalable, maintainable and efficient quality engineering practices.
DevOps Integration
Integrate automated testing solutions into DevOps pipelines to support continuous integration and streamlined software delivery.
AI Adoption
Leverage artificial intelligence to improve high-value quality engineering activities throughout the application development lifecycle.
Documentation and Reviews
Conduct reviews, facilitate approvals and maintain documentation for completed implementations and testing initiatives.
Education and Technical Requirements
Candidates must have a degree or diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or another related technical discipline, together with at least six years of experience in quality engineering or quality assurance. RBC also requires a minimum of two years of experience in a lead role.
Applicants should have practical experience designing test cases, implementing automation frameworks and working across multiple testing levels, including unit, component, integration and end-to-end scenarios. Experience with Postman, Cucumber, GitHub Actions, Java, Playwright, SQL databases, JIRA, Confluence and qTest is also required.

Work Environment and Career Development
This Toronto-based position is located at RBC WaterPark Place, 88 Queens Quay West, and is scheduled for 37.5 hours per week. The role is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations platform and supports teams responsible for Personal Banking and Credit Technology.
