About This Platform Solutions Architect Role

The Platform Solutions Architect will partner with technical sales teams to differentiate Google Cloud services and help retail customers solve complex business and technology challenges. The position includes technical discovery, architecture development, troubleshooting, proofs of concept, demonstrations and customer workshops.

The role has a particular focus on identifying and winning new workloads while expanding Google Cloud adoption within existing customer environments. Key Areas of Responsibility

The position combines cloud architecture, technical sales, customer advisory and deployment planning across complex retail and e-commerce environments.

Technical Account Strategy

Develop and own technical account plans and strategies while supporting targeted sales motions across major retail environments.

Cloud Solution Architecture

Design cross-pillar Google Cloud solutions that address infrastructure, applications, data, analytics, AI, networking and security requirements.

Demos & Proofs of Concept

Use demonstrations, pilots, prototypes and in-depth workshops to prove the value of Google Cloud across high-traffic retail and e-commerce workloads.

Technical Sales

Partner with sales teams to pursue new workloads, overcome technical objections and secure customer technical endorsement of proposed solutions.

Customer Advisory

Translate merchant and retailer business requirements into secure, scalable and practical cloud architectures.

Delivery Transition

Define initial delivery and consumption plans, support pricing activities and transition approved solutions to implementation teams.

Google Cloud for Retail and E-Commerce

The Platform Solutions Architect will support global merchants and the broader retail ecosystem with technology strategies designed for demanding, high-volume environments. Relevant opportunities may include infrastructure modernization, application modernization, cloud migrations, data management, analytics, artificial intelligence and security.

The role requires a broad understanding of cloud-native architecture together with the ability to identify new customer workloads and build long-term technical strategies. Experience working specifically with retail or e-commerce organizations is strongly preferred.

Qualifications, Technical Background and Compensation

Google requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience and at least ten years of cloud-native architecture experience in a customer-facing or support role. Candidates should also have experience engaging technical stakeholders or executive leaders and working with programming, debugging, systems design, prototyping, demonstrations or customer workshops.

Experience with cloud development, on-premise development, virtualization or containerization platforms is also required. Preferred qualifications include cloud migration experience, security knowledge and experience selling solutions involving infrastructure modernization, application modernization, data, analytics, AI, networking, migration or security.

Google lists a Canadian base salary range of $194,000 to $199,000 CAD per year, plus a 42.86% target bonus, equity and benefits. Individual compensation may vary based on job-related skills, experience and relevant education or training.
