About This Materials Integrity Position
The Integrity Engineer will lead materials and mechanical integrity activities for an assigned business area supporting the Kearl operation. Much of the work involves understanding how equipment can deteriorate over time and ensuring that appropriate controls are in place. Key Areas of Responsibility
The Integrity Engineer will manage technical programs affecting piping, tanks and vessels while providing guidance to site personnel and contractors. Integrity Program Leadership
Lead the materials and integrity program for an assigned operating area and support the short- and long-term performance of piping, tanks and pressure vessels.
Corrosion Management
Create, maintain and improve corrosion control programs by identifying degradation mechanisms and establishing suitable monitoring, inspection and mitigation measures.
Risk-Based Inspection
Update equipment strategies and provide degradation information that supports the continued development of Imperial’s Risk-Based Inspection program.
Inspection Planning
Develop and optimize detailed inspection plans, communicate requirements to contractors and provide direction during the execution of technical field activities.
Materials and Welding Review
Evaluate welding procedures, materials designs, fabrication approaches, coating systems and emerging technologies with support from specialized materials experts.
Shutdown and Investment Planning
Help business teams assess future spending, prepare for outages and shutdowns and incorporate equipment integrity priorities into broader planning processes.
Engineering Standards and Technical Knowledge
Candidates should understand the engineering standards and inspection practices used to manage equipment in oil and gas, petrochemical or oil sands facilities. Relevant knowledge includes materials selection, corrosion, welding, fabrication, non-metallic components, protective coatings and inspection technologies.
Imperial identifies several industry standards as preferred knowledge, including ASME Section IX, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, API 570, API 579 and API 580. Experience applying Fitness-for-Service assessments, Risk-Based Inspection practices and pressure equipment requirements would be particularly relevant to this position.

Qualifications, Benefits and Work Location
Applicants must hold a Mechanical Engineering or Materials Engineering degree and a Professional Engineer designation. Imperial is seeking candidates with approximately five to ten years of relevant experience.
