Supporting Critical Wealth Management Technology

The Director will provide operational oversight for applications used in portfolio management and client-facing reporting. These systems support important wealth management processes, making availability, data quality, performance and regulatory alignment central to the role.

This position requires both strategic direction and operational discipline. The successful candidate will help define the site reliability engineering roadmap, evaluate technical solutions and coordinate with portfolio management, reporting and surveillance teams to strengthen the performance of the broader application environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The role focuses on operational resilience, intelligent monitoring, technical modernization and the development of a high-performing engineering and operations team.

Service Reliability

Oversee incident, problem and change management processes to support the availability and stability of portfolio management and reporting applications.

Monitoring and Testing

Improve observability, alerting and proactive testing capabilities across the application portfolio to identify performance issues before they affect users.

Continuous Improvement

Analyse production incidents, identify recurring operational risks and implement preventive measures that strengthen application resilience.

Technology Roadmap

Guide the SRE roadmap for monitoring, anomaly detection, automation and other tools supporting portfolio and client reporting systems.

Experience and Technical Requirements

Candidates must have at least eight years of experience in production operations across multiple technologies and platforms. RBC also requires five or more years of experience in software engineering disciplines such as site reliability engineering, DevOps or cloud, together with at least five years of people management experience.

The position requires strong knowledge of engineering and SRE best practices, supported by a technical degree or equivalent experience. Previous work supporting financial services applications or wealth management technology is preferred because the role involves complex systems, regulated data and applications that directly affect portfolio management and client reporting.
