Air Canada is hiring a Workforce Attendance and Resource Supervisor for a full-time position in Vancouver, British Columbia. This operational support role helps Air Canada Maintenance remain properly staffed, trained and administratively prepared by coordinating workforce planning, attendance, payroll support and employee administration.
The successful candidate will work across Operations, Workforce Planning, Training, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Payroll and local administration teams. The role combines manpower planning, attendance management, qualification tracking and labour relations support in a unionized airline maintenance environment.
About This Workforce Operations Role
The Workforce Attendance and Resource Supervisor supports the operational readiness of Air Canada Maintenance by monitoring staffing, schedules, qualifications and workforce movements. The position helps ensure that the right employees are available and appropriately qualified to support maintenance requirements.
The role also provides guidance to administrative teams and acts as a liaison between operational leaders and corporate support functions. This requires strong organization, accurate recordkeeping and the ability to resolve workforce, payroll, attendance and scheduling issues efficiently.
Key Areas of Responsibility
The position covers workforce planning, attendance, training, payroll support and labour relations. The successful candidate will help coordinate both day-to-day workforce activity and longer-term staffing requirements.
Workforce Planning
Monitor staffing levels, manpower requirements, schedules, vacation planning, employee movements and operational coverage to support maintenance needs.
Training and Qualifications
Track employee qualifications, certifications and upcoming training requirements and provide reporting to support compliance and operational readiness.
Attendance Management
Coordinate absence reporting, attendance tracking, documentation and coding while helping employees and leaders understand attendance requirements and processes.
Return-to-Work Support
Coordinate accommodation, modified work and return-to-work activities with Disability Management, Labour Relations, leaders and employees.
Payroll and Administration
Support administrative teams with payroll, attendance, workforce transactions and employee administration while helping resolve system or process issues.
Labour Relations
Apply collective agreement provisions, liaise with union representatives and support investigations, grievances and workforce planning matters.
Workforce Planning and Operational Readiness
The supervisor will support shift bids, vacation bids, staffing adjustments, recruitment requisitions, transfers, layoffs, recalls and other workforce transactions. These activities must align with operational requirements and applicable collective agreements.
The role also involves using workforce metrics, trend analysis and reporting to provide recommendations to management. Strong collaboration with operational leaders is important because staffing and qualification gaps can directly affect maintenance capacity and operational performance.

Qualifications and Employment Requirements
Air Canada prefers a college diploma or university degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Operations Management or a related field. Project management training or certification is considered an asset.
Candidates should have experience in workforce planning, manpower management, attendance, labour relations, payroll administration, human resources or airline operations, ideally within a unionized environment. Knowledge of airline maintenance operations, collective agreements, workers’ compensation processes and accommodation requirements is considered valuable.
