Key Responsibilities for the Pharmacist

Your tasks will focus on dispensing medications, patient care, and compliance with provincial regulations.

  • Dispenses prescription medications, checks for accuracy and therapeutic appropriateness.
  • Educates patients on proper medication usage, interactions, and potential side effects.
  • Performs medication reviews, therapy management, and patient follow-ups.
  • Collaborates with healthcare professionals and ensures proper documentation.
  • Adapts and modifies prescriptions where permitted by law.
  • Administers injections and orders lab tests when authorized.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and accurate record-keeping.
  • Acts as Pharmacist-In-Charge in the manager’s absence, supervising pharmacy interns and students.
  • Participates in health and wellness clinics and maintains professional competence.

Minimum Qualifications for the Pharmacist

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following:

  • Education/Training: Bachelor of Science or Doctorate of Pharmacy required.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Licensed Pharmacist in good standing in the province of work.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Knowledge/Skills: Strong computer, math, patient care, and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications for the Pharmacist

Additional strengths that are beneficial:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills for patient interaction.
  • Experience in clinical services such as medication reviews and injections.
  • Bilingual skills (English/French) are an asset, especially in Quebec.
