Maintenance Assistant – Costco Wholesale, Mississauga, ON

Costco Wholesale is looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Maintenance Assistant to support the Optical Lab at 1570 Dundas Street East, Mississauga, ON. This is a great full-time opportunity for candidates skilled in facility upkeep, janitorial work, and equipment handling.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for cleaning, general maintenance, operating equipment, and supporting the team to keep the facility safe and fully functional.

About the Job

As a Maintenance Assistant, you’ll handle a wide range of tasks, from cleaning floors and fixtures to operating trash compactors and restocking supplies. You’ll ensure that all areas meet safety and cleanliness standards while providing courteous service to members and employees.

This position is perfect for someone who enjoys physical work, has mechanical aptitude, and pays great attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities for the Maintenance Assistant

• Performs daily janitorial duties: cleans floors, restrooms, break rooms, offices, and production areas.
• Operates equipment such as trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbers.
• Performs minor repairs including changing light bulbs and maintaining facility fixtures.
• Assists in grounds maintenance: handles snow removal, leaf blowing, litter pick-up, and concrete floor repairs.
• Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies and conducts internal and external purchases as needed.
• Handles facility maintenance system updates and ensures compliance with safety protocols.
• Provides prompt and courteous service to members, employees, and suppliers.

Minimum Qualifications for the Maintenance Assistant

Candidates must meet the following:

• Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid driver’s license required.
• Experience: Janitorial experience preferred.
• Skills: Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity required.

Preferred Qualifications for the Maintenance Assistant

Additional qualifications that will help you excel:

• Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely.
• Knowledge of facility maintenance best practices.
• French communication skills required for Quebec roles (not mandatory for this ON location).
