ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cake Decorator at Costco, you will frost, fill, decorate, and finish cakes according to Costco standards and production procedures. You’ll prepare items for the sales floor and special orders, use pastry bags and decorating tips to create borders, designs, and writing, and help ensure every product meets quality and consistency expectations. You will also maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting other bakery tasks when needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Frost and fill cakes using a spatula, and decorate cakes using pastry bags, tips, and approved methods.
- Write messages and add decorative finishes for cakes prepared for sales and special orders.
- Slice and handle cake layers using appropriate tools and equipment as required.
- Apply fillings between layers and garnish cakes according to Costco formulas and standards.
- Prepare pastry bags with frosting and use various tips to create borders, designs, and lettering.
- Review special order details for flavors, colors, designs, and personalized writing; contact members if instructions are unclear.
- Remove products from baking pans, assemble cake pads and boxes, and stage finished cakes for cooling, storage, or wrapping.
- Use bakery equipment such as whipping cream machines where required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the decorating area and follow safety and security procedures.
- Support other bakery duties and provide courteous service to Costco members.
