Meat Assistant – Costco Wholesale, Ottawa, ON

Costco Wholesale is looking for a Meat Assistant to join our team at the Ottawa warehouse, located at 770 Silver Seven Road. This full-time role involves working in the meat department to ensure product quality, freshness, and food safety while supporting daily operations.

You will be responsible for wrapping, labeling, grinding, and stocking meat products while maintaining a clean and organized work area.

You will operate various machines and tools while ensuring high-quality service to members.

Key Responsibilities for the Meat Assistant

Your tasks will focus on production, equipment operation, and keeping the department clean and well-stocked for members.

• Wrap and label meat products using an automatic wrapping machine.
• Inspect and reassemble sanitized equipment to prepare for daily operations.
• Grind meat and monitor fat content, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Stock display cases, rotate inventory, and maintain presentation standards.
• Set and operate label machines, applying accurate product information.
• Clean and sanitize the work area throughout the day, following health codes.
• Perform routine maintenance on machinery and tools as required.
• Provide excellent member service by answering questions and assisting as needed.

Minimum Qualifications for the Meat Assistant

Candidates must meet specific requirements to ensure success in this food safety-sensitive role.

• Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications: Food Safety Certification – Level 1 required on the first day.
• Experience: Meat wrapping experience preferred.
