About the Role

The UX Designer, Chrome, iOS will be responsible for crafting user experiences that are simple, intuitive, and delightful. Using user-centered design methods, you will take products from concept to execution, ensuring they meet industry-leading standards. This role requires close collaboration with design leads, UX writers, researchers, developers, and product managers to ensure that every product you design upholds the highest standards of usability and visual design.

In this position, you will also propose solutions by leveraging existing design patterns and best practices in interaction and visual design. You’ll assess the usability and trustworthiness of both new and existing features, and create artifacts, prototypes, or specs that empower developers to implement new features effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Propose solutions by utilizing existing patterns and best practices in interaction or visual design.
  • Collaborate with design leads, UX writers, researchers, developers, and Product Managers to develop and refine product ideas.
  • Evaluate the usability and trustworthiness of new and existing features, ensuring they meet Google’s high standards.
  • Create artifacts such as prototypes or specs to guide developers in implementing new features.

Basic Qualifications

Google requires the following basic qualifications for the UX Designer, Chrome, iOS role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of conversation design experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience in visual or interaction design across at least two of the following platforms: Android, iOS, or the web.
  • Portfolio highlighting experience in visual design.

Preferred Qualifications

Google prefers candidates who also possess the following qualifications:

  • Knowledge of user experience design and how motion design influences user interface and interaction design (and vice versa).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile (e.g., Android and iOS).
