Store Manager – Dollarama, Ottawa, ON

Dollarama is seeking an experienced and results-driven Store Manager to lead our team in Ottawa, Ontario. As a Store Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing store operations, managing staff, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the store.​

About the Job

In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks within the store, including managing staff, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining store standards. You will work closely with the management team to ensure that the store operates efficiently and that customers receive prompt and courteous service.​

Your day-to-day activities will involve leading by example, addressing customer inquiries, and ensuring compliance with company policies, requiring strong organizational and interpersonal skills. You will also be trained to follow all safety protocols to maintain a secure working environment.​

Key Responsibilities for the Store Manager

As a Store Manager, you will be entrusted with tasks that are vital to the smooth operation of the store. Your responsibilities will include:​

• Managing the resources of the store to maximize results and store appearance while ensuring inventory is consistently available on the shelves.
• Recruiting, developing, training, and motivating a team of Assistant Managers, Team Leaders, Assistant Team Leaders, and Store Associates.
• Ensuring that company rules and regulations are explained, understood, and properly followed by all team members.
• Managing work schedules according to budgeted hours and business needs.
• Managing and resolving customer complaints, questions, and inquiries.
• Ensuring that inventory counts (on-hands) are done promptly and precisely, to ensure proper resupply of goods.
• Ensuring that store opening/closing and asset management procedures are properly followed.
• Acting as the primary contact person for any issues related to the store alarm system.
• Ensuring that employees work safely and apply the standards required by health and safety.
• Operating a cash register when necessary.

Minimum Qualifications for the Store Manager

To be successful in this role, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the retail industry, including at least 2 years in a management position.
• Flexibility with regard to availabilities and work schedules, including days, evenings, and weekends.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
• Ability to efficiently organize time and manage priorities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications for the Store Manager

While not required, the following qualifications are advantageous:

• Experience with inventory management systems.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and cash handling procedures.
• Bilingualism, particularly in English and French, is considered an asset.
