Costco is hiring an Optical Student in Kelowna, BC to support members with eyewear selection, order processing, and department operations. This position offers hands-on experience in a professional optical environment while delivering excellent member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As an Optical Student at Costco, you will assist members in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses, process orders and payments, and help maintain organized and well-stocked displays. Under the supervision of a licensed Optician and where permitted by provincial regulations, you may assist with fitting and adjusting eyewear. This role also involves stocking supplies, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting daily optical department procedures.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist members in choosing eyeglass frames and lens options while providing prompt and courteous service.
- Process orders and over-the-counter merchandise transactions accurately, including payment handling and receipts.
- Where permitted by provincial law and under supervision, fit and adjust eyeglasses using approved techniques and tools.
- Order and manage equipment, merchandise, and supplies using computer systems and follow department procedures.
- Stock and organize merchandise and supplies while maintaining accurate product storage and display standards.
- Maintain department cleanliness by wiping surfaces, mopping floors, emptying trash, and operating cardboard balers when required.
- Follow production, record-keeping, and merchandising standards in accordance with company policies.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
