Costco is hiring a Meat Cutter in Kelowna, BC to support daily meat department production by cutting, trimming, and preparing raw meat for sale. This hands-on role uses specialized equipment and focuses on quality, food safety, and consistent merchandising standards.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Cutter at Costco, you will cut and prepare raw meat products for the sales floor using saws, knives, grinders, tenderizers, and other tools. You’ll help keep the meat case stocked and rotated, follow sanitation and temperature controls, and ensure finished products meet Costco’s quality and consistency expectations. In addition to cutting duties, you may assist with wrapping, staging product, and supporting overall meat department operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cut, trim, and prepare raw meat for sale using knives, saws, grinders, tenderizers, roast tyers, and other equipment.
- Inspect and reassemble equipment sanitized from the previous night and prepare the work area for production.
- Assess daily production needs, rework and rotate meat, and maintain stocked display cases.
- Bring product from coolers to the cutting/prep area and handle cases safely, following lifting guidelines.
- Operate tenderizing equipment and automatic slicers; follow safety and security procedures at all times.
- Operate meat grinders, monitor batches, and check contents to maintain consistency and quality standards.
- Stage and transfer product into trays, support wrapping processes, and assist with merchandising plans.
- Clean and sanitize the work area throughout the day, following health code requirements and SSOP standards.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks for tools, machinery, and implements as required.
- Support seafood road show set-up and tasks when assigned.
- Provide prompt and courteous member service.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
