Costco is hiring a Meat Assistant in Kelowna, BC to support daily operations in the meat department. This hands-on role focuses on wrapping and labeling meat products, stocking display cases, operating equipment, and maintaining high standards for food safety and member service.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Meat Assistant at Costco, you will help prepare meat products for sale by wrapping, labeling, and stocking items according to department procedures. You’ll operate equipment such as automatic wrapping machines and meat grinders, assist with product rotation and display maintenance, and ensure work areas remain clean and sanitary throughout the day. This role requires attention to detail, safe equipment use, and consistency in quality and labeling accuracy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wrap and label meat products using approved wrapping equipment and labeling systems.
- Inspect sanitized equipment at the start of the shift and help reassemble tools and machinery as needed.
- Remove meat from large trays, place packages into the automatic wrapping machine, and follow safety procedures.
- Set labelers correctly by product type and price; print and apply labels accurately to products.
- Stock and rotate meat products in display cases and ensure proper presentation and freshness.
- Move wrapped and labeled product using carts and follow safe handling techniques.
- Operate meat grinders, monitor output, and check batch contents in line with department standards.
- Maintain sanitation throughout the day, including temperature control and health-code compliance.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks for machinery, equipment, and implements when required.
- Provide prompt and courteous service to Costco members.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
