Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright) – UPS – Lachine, QC – $30.00/hr

UPS is seeking a skilled Maintenance Journeyman (Millwright) to support its state-of-the-art Montreal Automated Hub. This permanent, full-time role involves maintaining and repairing the package sorting system, including belt conveyors.

The position is ideal for someone with experience in industrial maintenance, who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and interacting with operations employees.

As a Millwright at UPS, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of maintenance activities to ensure efficient and effective operations. This includes troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment. The role offers the opportunity to work in one of UPS Canada’s largest automated sorting facilities.

About the Role

In this role, you will inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical components such as motors, conveyors, and pneumatic systems. Additionally, you will perform preventive maintenance inspections and participate in ongoing maintenance activities to support operational efficiency at UPS’s Lachine facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Weld equipment such as handrails and conveyor supports.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections of plant equipment.
• Collaborate with operations employees to maintain safety and efficiency.

Compensation & Benefits

Basic Qualifications

• Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• 3+ years of post-apprenticeship experience performing maintenance on industrial equipment.
• Valid 5760 Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanic or 5781 Automated Systems Electromechanic Certification preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to give and receive instructions in an industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance of conveyor belts.
• Knowledge of plumbing and building schematics.
• Basic computer skills.

Working Conditions

This position involves working primarily indoors at UPS’s Lachine facility, with occasional outdoor work. Shifts do not rotate, but flexibility is required periodically.

The role involves exposure to varying temperatures and requires physical activity, including lifting up to 49 pounds and standing for extended periods.
