Costco is hiring a Food Service Assistant in Kelowna, BC to support the Food Court with food preparation, service, and cleanliness. This role is fast-paced and hands-on, focused on delivering quick, friendly service while maintaining food safety and quality standards.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Food Service Assistant at Costco, you will help prepare and serve popular Food Court items, restock supplies and ingredients, and keep work and dining areas clean and organized. You’ll follow department production procedures, handle cash transactions when needed, and support safe food handling practices including sanitation, temperature control, and product rotation. This is a great role for someone who enjoys teamwork and a busy environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and serve Food Court items such as pizzas, hot dogs, and baked products while following department procedures.
- Slice and portion items, operate warmers, steamers, and fryers, and add toppings or fillings as required.
- Handle customer orders at the counter and by phone; ring up sales, collect money, and provide change.
- Assemble and present orders using proper food handling techniques and service standards.
- Dispense and prepare desserts and beverages such as frozen yogurt, lattes, or smoothies; clean and refill dispensing machines.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by bussing tables, sanitizing surfaces, sweeping and mopping floors, and removing trash.
- Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, pans, and counters; follow safety and security procedures when operating compactors.
- Pull ingredients and supplies from warehouse areas, stock shelves, coolers, and freezers, and stage items for preparation.
- Follow health and food safety requirements including sanitation, temperature checks, and product rotation/expiry dates.
- Assist in other warehouse areas as needed.
