Costco is hiring a Cashier Assistant in Kelowna, BC to support front-end operations and help deliver fast, friendly service to members. This role focuses on packing orders, assisting cashiers, keeping the area organized, and helping the checkout process run smoothly.
ABOUT THE JOB
As a Cashier Assistant at Costco, you will work alongside cashiers to pack member purchases, move items efficiently, and maintain a clean and safe front-end environment. You’ll help members load orders, perform quick runs for items when requested, and support daily tasks such as cart retrieval and merchandise restocking. This is an active, customer-facing role that requires teamwork, attention to safety, and a strong service mindset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet members, assist with loading items onto the conveyor, and support a smooth checkout experience.
- Pack member purchases into boxes and help load orders onto carts or flatbeds as needed.
- Check packaged items for security/tampering and follow safety and security procedures.
- Run for items, merchandise, boxes, or supplies as directed to keep lines moving efficiently.
- Transfer items between carts/flatbeds and assist with moving purchases to the correct area.
- Maintain cleanliness of the register area and general front-end area; clean spills and address trip hazards promptly.
- Retrieve carts and flatbeds from the parking area using approved methods and keep entry areas clear.
- Support department tasks such as returning products, collecting paperwork, stocking supplies, and closing duties.
- Operate equipment such as cardboard balers or trash compactors where required and trained.
- Assist cashiers during promotions and busy periods to maintain a high level of member service.
