Supporting FedEx Supply Chain Operations

The Seasonal Forklift Operator contributes to the movement of products through the Brantford distribution operation. Rather than focusing on parcel delivery, this role centres on warehouse fulfilment, pallet movement, inventory accuracy and the safe operation of material handling equipment.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Daily responsibilities combine forklift operation, order fulfilment, inventory control and safe product handling within an active warehouse environment.

Order Picking

Pick full cases for inventory replenishment, customer orders and packaging requirements while maintaining shipment accuracy.

Pallet Storage

Retrieve and place pallets within narrow-aisle bulk rack storage areas using approved powered material handling equipment.

Loading and Unloading

Move pallets and cases between trucks, conveyor systems and warehouse areas using equipment or appropriate manual handling methods.

Quality Control

Complete accuracy checks on warehouse transactions to help protect product quality, integrity and inventory records.

Inventory Management

Support accurate storage locations through cycle counts and other routine inventory-control activities.

Equipment Safety

Complete required equipment inspections before and after use and follow established procedures for safe operation.

Education and Equipment Requirements

Applicants must have a high school diploma or an equivalent level of education. Candidates must also be able to operate basic powered material handling equipment such as forklifts and electric pallet jacks within a warehouse environment.

The role does not include operation of Order Picker, Turret or Drexel equipment. Employees must meet applicable personal protective equipment and fall-protection requirements and be comfortable working on equipment at extended heights when required by warehouse operations.

Schedule, Pay and Physical Requirements

The position is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday from 6:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m. Starting pay is $25.13 CAD per hour, increasing to $27.02 CAD per hour after completion of the 90-day probationary period. The seasonal assignment may continue for up to 11 months.

Employees must be able to sit, stand or walk for the duration of the shift, perform warehouse tasks through a full range of motion and lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The work also requires sufficient visual acuity and the ability to read, interpret and follow operational information and procedures.
