Dollarama is hiring reliable and proactive Assistant Team Leaders to support our store operations in Edmonton, Alberta. This full-time permanent position is ideal for individuals with experience in retail who are passionate about teamwork, service, and leadership in a fast-paced environment.
As an Assistant Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting store efficiency, leading by example, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
About the Job
This role includes a blend of supervisory duties, operational responsibilities, and front-line support. You will work closely with the Store Manager and Team Leader to help ensure that Dollarama maintains its high standards in merchandising, cleanliness, and service delivery.
You will also provide day-to-day leadership to the associate team, helping coach staff, delegate tasks, and support smooth store operations during your shifts.
Key Responsibilities for the Assistant Team Leader
You will contribute directly to the store’s daily performance by leading and supporting your team. Core responsibilities include:
- Assisting with store merchandising, restocking, and product presentation.
- Supervising and supporting store associates, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Providing customer service, addressing and resolving customer questions or concerns.
- Executing opening and closing procedures, including basic cash handling.
- Monitoring store safety and cleanliness, maintaining operational standards.
- Assisting with training new employees and reinforcing best practices among staff.
- Acting as the Manager on Duty when needed, ensuring operational continuity.
Minimum Qualifications for the Assistant Team Leader
To qualify for this position, candidates should have:
- At least one (1) year of experience in retail.
- Prior experience in a team leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Flexible availability, including evening and weekend shifts.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to motivate others and lead by example.
Preferred Qualifications for the Assistant Team Leader
While not required, these qualifications are a strong asset:
- Experience with inventory management systems.
- Knowledge of POS systems and cash handling procedures.
- Bilingualism, especially in English and French, is beneficial.
